Located in downtown Toronto, Tip Top Tailor Lofts is Toronto's most prestigious Loft condominium address as well as being a historical landmark on Toronto's waterfront. The five-storey U-shaped structure designed by Roy Bishop of Bishop and Miller, Architects and Engineers, featured expansive windows to bring natural light into the working areas of the factory [a brilliant feature in creating residential loft spaces]. The stretch of blank facade above the fifth storey, initially built to support the rooftop sign, was completely enclosed as a sixth storey in 1951. The Tip Top Tailors Building was listed as a Toronto Heritage property in 1972.
The Tip Top Tailor Building was the most elegant industrial structure built in Toronto in the 1920's. It incorporates all the key elements of the Art Deco genra, including a symmetrical facade, strong vertical lines, multiple wall planes at the corners, an elegant two-storey front entrance with articulated brass doors, and numerous examples of geometric and figurative decoration. Converted to condominiums and completed in 2006 including a 6 storey rooftop addition, Tip Top Tailor Lofts features 256 units ranging in size from 600 to 2580 sq. ft with over 50 unique floor plans. Penthouse units are two level suites. Just steps away from the building residents of Tip Top Tailor Lofts can catch 509 & 511 streetcars to take them to other great Toronto spots!
